Our Story

Every handcrafted piece has a beginning. Ours started with a simple conversation.

One day, Bethany was using a store-bought wood blank to create a decorative sign, and Darius asked: "Why don't we just make it ourselves?"

That one question sparked something much bigger than either of us expected.

What began as a single project quickly turned into evenings spent learning new techniques, researching tools, experimenting with materials, and discovering the satisfaction that comes from creating something with our own hands.

Not long after, Lakeborne Creations was born.

The name Lakeborne reflects where our story began long before our business did. Darius grew up in Detroit, Michigan, along the shores of the Great Lakes, while Bethany was raised in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, just minutes from Lake Erie. Those places shaped who we are and remind us of the values we carry into everything we create—hard work, authenticity, family, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship.

About six months into our journey, we discovered laser engraving. It opened an entirely new world of possibilities, allowing us to personalize our handcrafted pieces and create products that celebrate life's milestones in an even more meaningful way. Today, we combine traditional woodworking with precision laser engraving and modern manufacturing to create gifts, home décor, business products, and live engraving experiences that are as unique as the people receiving them.

While our skills and equipment have grown over the years, one thing has never changed: we're the makers behind every piece.

As a husband-and-wife team, we design, build, engrave, finish, package, and continually refine everything that leaves our workshop. We believe quality isn't something that can be rushed. It's earned through attention to detail, thoughtful craftsmanship, and genuine care for every customer.

Family has always been at the heart of what we do. Whether it's a wedding gift, a cutting board that becomes part of family dinners, a personalized keepsake celebrating a new chapter, or a live engraving experience that creates lasting memories at an event, we believe the best pieces become part of a family's story.
